Reference Table To Replace 'Pondok Panas'

PUTRAJAYA, May 21 (Bernama) -- Election Commission (SPR) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said contesting parties can put up reference tables to replace 'pondok panas' (voter reference centres) during polling for the Penanti by-election on May 31.

He however stressed that campaigning was not allowed on polling day in accordance with Section 26(1) of the Election Offences Act 1954 approved by parliament since 2003.

"We have agreed that contesting parties can put up reference tables to check the status of voters. We only allow tables and big umbrellas. No more tents and soliciting for votes," he told Bernama here today. more
